BERNARD CHANEY HAS BEEN THE PASTOR OF BELIEVERS HOUSE WORLDWIDE MINISTRIES FOR OVER 20 YEARS. There has been recent allegations, from former members, that stated they had been physically, sexually, emotionally, spiritually, mentally, and financially abused while being a member of Believer's House. Some alleged they were asked to sell all of their household items in order to prove themselves worthy of the kingdom. When they did this their home was left empty and surviving with the bare minimum even those with kids. There was once a time when people were asked to take out a second or third mortgage on their home for the building fund"BUILDING FUND". All to PROVE yourself and your LOYALTY to the kingdom and the MAN OF GOD. Members were told that the church was going to buy land with this money but no one has yet seen that land. (And that was over 15 years ago) They were also made to give up most of their finances by way of tithes, fines, fee, dues and any other way Bernard Chaney could come up to get your money.
This ministry also has a school called VOICE OF BELIEVERS CHRISTIAN ACADEMY. Former students have recently come forth with allegations of being tased, whipped, belittled, slapped and touched inappropriately. it is also been reported that he was going to marry off some of the younger women to the highest bidder. There is also allegations that Bernard Chaney covered up young women being violated and did not report this to the necessary authorities. We are seeking a full investigation, of the academy, going back from the time it was open. It has been brought to our attention that the principal and several teachers were aware of the mistreatment of the children and they did nothing.
The allegations against Bernard Chaney and some of his leadership team are horrendous.
Families being made to sleep in the church because they have lost their homes from giving everything to the ministry. All the while the man of God is living in a million-dollar mansion. He had a game called Faith factor in which he would pay money to see some of his leadership eat worms. He would also pay money to let him tase them. The stories are sickening. It makes the stories 10 times worse because children were involved, rather directly or indirectly, in this mistreatment as well. Members were not always allowed to go home for funerals plus they had to get permission if they wanted to leave and go somewhere. Many of the members were afraid to leave because they were told they were going to die some type of horrible death. IF BY CHANCE CERTAIN MEMBERS HAD GOTTEN ENOUGH COURAGE TO LEAVE, BERNARD CHANEY WOULD HAVE SOME OF HIS LEADERSHIP TEAM GO OUT TO THE GRAVEYARD, PLACE THAT MEMBER'S NAME ON THE HEADSTONE AND PRAY FOR DEATH ON THAT MEMBER AND THAT MEMBER'S CHILDREN!!
We have contacted child protective services and local authorities and there is an open investigation. But VOICE OF BELIEVERS CHRISTIAN ACADEMY is still in operation and we have a very recent allegation that a young lady there has been sexually assaulted. EVERY TIME WE HAVE ATTEMPTED TO CONTACT BERNARD CHANEY, HE HAS RUN AND HIDDEN. We appreciate the Norfolk Police department but we are not seeing any progress and children are still getting mistreated.
